Recife temple trip!

Hi mommy!!! so this week was pretty good! we had 4 of our investigators in church this sunday!! it was such a good feeling! this past week we went to the temple... and it was the most amazing thing ever! i really needed some temple time. its so beautiful!! i loved it! so i got super sick last week... but this week im still not doing the best! i feel like throwing up and my stomach just isnnt doing too well..... but im gonna go to the pharmacy after this and get something! hopefully itll help! oh so this week when we went to the temple ... to get back home we missed our bus... so we had to travel to setubal to stay with the sisters there... then we had to travel back to the dantes barrera to catch our bus. so that was 2 days in recife. then we had to go back to recife on friday! cause my companion had an interview with president! it kinda sucks to travel ... becuase i feel sick and the omnibus makes me more sick! haha oh well! tudo bem.. tudo bem! haha so savanas para mi cama seria de una cama twin . :) y mi talla de falda y blusa no se haha todavia me quedan las faldas, so um poco grande .. pero si me compras una falda no puede ser como muy pegada .. como una falda de lapiz! las blusas soy provavel talla medium! ha yay!!! oh and if you want you can send a package of twizzlers and dried mangos! that would be amaing! hahaha but just if you want! ;)haha so esta ves mande muchas mas fotos! ha youll see in the pictures that theres a scorpion... yup ... we found that in our room on thursday.. and then on friday we found one climing up my bed... that was bigger... eww!!! not only do we have a bat problem in our house... but also a scorpion problem! haha  we have been so scared ...we dont even sleep at night... so not only do i feel sick ... im tired haha but the lord is always taking care of us! haha well thats all for this week! i love you!!!!!!

69 days!

Hi mommy!!! So this week was pretty good! sortof... ha we went to recife 2 times. which made us spend more money.. but we had a good conference haha so this week we thought wed have like 3 baptisms marked... but that didnt happen.... we had a lot of good moments and dumb frustring moments too... for example we have an awesome investigator who has a strong testimony of the book of mormon! hes seriously the best... but ... this week... while we were walking back home.. we found him in the street... super drunk.... and he started talking to us.. and stuff like that.... and it made us really sad that he was super super super drunk... but it was kindof funny at the same time... cause he was bearing his testimony about the book of mormon... haha and like quoting the book of mormon and he was quoting the bible ... ha at least he has a testimony even when hes completly drunk! haha so i cant send pictures... cause my memory card isnt formated... at if i format it now.. all of my pictures are gonna get earased.... so im gonna try to buy a flash drive to save all those pictures.. and then format it to send pictures! you guys should send me pictures too!!!!!!! i really want to see you guys! and everything!!! oh mom.,.. so your gonna be so proud of me.... I can paint my nails now!!! yay!!! haha and it doesnt look too horrible up close! haha but anyways... I was studying in the book of mormon.. in the book of alma and i think its like one of my favorite stories in the book of mormon... when ammon teaches o rei lamôni!! ha i would like for you guys to read it during your study of the book of mormon Alma chapter 18- 24 its an awesome story! oh and this week during our district meeting i was asked to give the message.. and whichever doctrine i wanted.. so i chose faith. and something that i liked alot was something i found en o Guia das escrituras. y dize que os milagres nao producen fe,.. pero a fe produz milagres. i liked that alot..  cause if you really think about it.. it would take a miracle for a person to keep that faith! then i also studied matthew 14 when cristo walks on water. to share during my message! well thats pretty much it...!! I love you guys!!!!

Sister Orozcooh also today is independance day for brazil.. so things are a little crazy! everyone is drunk! haha oh well!

“Don’t count your days—make your days count.”

~August 24~

Hi mommy!!!!! so this week... was a bit hard... we have found alot of people to teach... but when it comes to going back and teaching them... they are either not home... or just not interested... :( oh well... were still working really hard! so we had kindof a crazy experience... so there a recent convert here and weve been teaching his granddaughter... and one day we stopped by and we were talking there... and he was like telling us that he was leaving the church that he didnt want to be part of it... cause he had to save his marriage.. and then his wife comes out (and shes kindof a scary person)and she starts yelling at him... and telling us that he is a horrible husband.. it was honestly really scary... but thank goodness that my companion and i felt like we should take someone with us to teach that lesson.. we asked a member to go with us... her name is Rosangela! she is amazing! she such a sweet person! so she went with us... and she was amazing! she was the one doing all the talking and helping the situation get better! my companion and i didnt know what to say or do... but rosangela like saved the night... and then after the lesson her and her husband took us out to eat pizza! it was funny cause our lunch appointment couldnt give us lunch that day... and we didnt have any food at home.. and we were starving.. and we had prayed that we wouldnt feel hungry... and then they took us out to dinner! it was an awesome day! sortof... were still working with João to go back to church. Oh and on saturday ... we woke up and our whole house was flooded... It sucked! We dont know how it flooded ... but it did! oh well! haha did you guys see the pictures I sent ? oh President and sister bigelow have a facebook page you can follow ... I dont know the name of it ... but you can look! haha well I love you guys so much! say hi to everyone for me! Everyone!!!! haha

~August 31~

Hi mommy!!! uff my portuguese honestly sucks... like ill be teaching something during a lesson.. and then i ask a question... and the investigator is like "what? im not understanding anything shes been saying" :( its a bit frustrating ! and then theres times that were knocking on doors or just talking to people on the street and ill be taking and they interrupt me and say " your not from here are you""you have a differnt accent" ahhhhh its annoying'!!! haha oh and this week i had my first gross meal... the person killed the fish infront of us... cut it and just placed it on the pan to fry....... it wasnt very tasty.... oh well... so right now im in recife! today we had a special p-day with president and sister bigelow... we did excersizes with them! it was awesome!!! they also showed us things that we should eat and stuff like that! it was way cool! then were gonna come back to recife on wednesday ... and then were coming back to recife on the 17 (your birthday) to go to the temple!!! yay!!!!!! but at the same time it kinda sucks... because the trip is 10 reals from goiana to recife and then 10 to go back.. plus taxi... and all that stuff... and were poor... haha we dont have any money!! haha so we were hoping wede have a baptism marked this week... but the couple had a family emergency... darn.. hopefully this next week!!! our other pesquisadora is progressing really well!!! she loves learning about the gosple! shes such a special person!!! were excited for her!!! also my companion is the best!!! i absolutely love her!!! we have so much fun together! and we work really hard!!! literally! haha Being a missionary is such a special calling! everyone we talk to always tells us that theres something special about us.. like everytime we talk to them they feel so much peace... its awesome! i love being a missionary! i love being able to share what makes me happy! its great!! also i cant believe ive been a missionary for 2 months already! thats way crazy!!! haha so it would be nice if you guys could send me some pictures too? haha you can just send them by email! haha well i have to go! love you mom! say hi to everyone for me!!!!!!

Sister Orozco's last two emails!

Hi mommy!!! and daddy!!! and elsie !!! and liz!!!!!!

Everything here is so different ! but im finally started to adjust!!! to everything!! So ive learned that being here in the mtc is hard.. like every day... but at the same time its sooo good.. we are always finding ways to feel the spirit and we are always trying to look for ways to be able to grow and help others, and thats pretty much our purpose. to help other--- come unto Christ... and its such a beautiful thing. I love it!! so here at the CTM we have aaaalllloooottt of stuff to do. we always have somewhere to be.. things we should be doing and stuff like that. we dont even have time to think about going to the restroom, or even be hungry hahah... so my schedule usually goies like this. I get up at 6am (it was so hard ajusting to braziliam time &weather) I have to be in our classrooom by 7 am for personal study then at 8 am we have breakfsat8:30 we have class with our instructo Irmã Ortega! she is the best! she always threatens to throw the elders out the the Janela(window) if they dont do the homework she gave us haha so we have class till about 10:30 then we have to go to another classroom and teach our pesquisador (investigator) which is awesome!I love teaching/role playing its the best! it has helped me grow so much, then after we teach we go back to our classroom to planejar... to plan our next lesson for our pesquisador, then we have language study then at 12 we have almoço... lunch is alwasy the worst meal of the day... brazilian food has such a different taste, bust some of it is good, after almoço we have more classes till about 4:30 then we have to go teach another pesquisador and then more study time and more classes and more companiion study time.. then more language study! then more personal study! and so on! then we have jantar... dinner time! the only time i like dinner is on wednesday nights. cause wednesday nights are PIZZA NIGHTS!!!!! well sortof pizza... they dont use sause on their pizza... which is weird.. but still good! haha then we have more studdy... then excersiese and then we have about 30 min to shower and then go back to class for an hour to planejar some more! thats pretty much my day.. sitting in a classroom for 30 min! but Im starting to really like it here! My portuguese is kinda sorta coming along... im speaking a lot more than i did last week!!! yay!!! haha well I love you guys!!!!!!!! and i miss you guys too !!!! oh and I dont know how long it takes for a letter to get here! but guess what! I got my first letter here at the mtc yesterday (7/16) and guess who it was from!!! BRADY!!!!! It made me soooo happy!!!!!!! haha it was the best! but yea! Today we had the chance to go to the campinas temple! it was sooooo beautiful!! Im gonna go to the post office after this to send out a letter to you guys and some pictures!!! so hopefully theyll be there next week!!

love you guys (especially dad) hahahaha

Hi momy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and liz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Elsie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha Gosh I love P-day!!!! and Wow I feel like time is flying by! Im so glad liz is gonna play a real sport haha (jk elsie) haha You know... Today at the temple I couldnt stop thinking about grandpa... I hope he gets better! Los extrano muito a todos!! 24 of july!!! they dont celebrate that here! but Ill probably just celebrate it by my self! haha but yea! so I sent a letter... im assuming you guys havent gotten it! cause it takes about 15 days to get a letter so you guys probably should send anymore letters over here... cause it takes a super long time to get letters! I sent pictures too!!!! you guys will love it!!! haha cause theres me in it! Of course!!! haha just kidding !!!! tell manolo and sergio I say Hi and that I love them alot!!!!! and that I miss them both!!!! so this is week 4 at the mtc!!!! CRAZY!!!!!! this next thursday we gonna be having exchanges... that means all the people in the hispanic district is gonna change companions with a brazilian companion... for our last 2 weeks here and then vamos embora!!!!!! that means that next week our p-day is probably gonna be on wednesday or thursday! depending on when we swich companions!!! Im so excited to have a brazilian companion! Brazilians are the best!!!!!! so language... Portuguese is difficult! but my instructors say that im progressing alot ! our district has a goal to speak portuguese at all times! most of the time we speak portuguese, the other times we kinda just forget and speak portunol! haha my district is awesome!!! were really united and help eachother out alot! This week has been pretty great! The person in charge of every mtc in the world.. Brother Mills... came to the Brazil mtc this week ! it was awesome! I got to translate for him in one of my sunday classes from Portuguese/spanish to english! haha it was the best! Then on sunday night he gave The devotional and it was also the best1!!!! I leaerned so much!!!!!!!!!! He talked to us about how we can become better missionaries. I thought it was gonna be the same typical answers we usually get (read your scriptures, pray to be a better missionary , baptise, baptise, baptise) not that any of those things dont work, theyre awesome... but he talked to us about another thing! it was to get to know our savior and try to be exactly like him. yea.. were not perfect, and you dont have to be perfect to do missionary work. your good enought with having the desires to work.. as long as we have the desire to do missionary work the lord will help us! we have to let the lord change our lifes. he said, "the world works from the outside in, and the lord works from the inside out!"He gave an awesome talk! and I learned alot form it! OOOO this week we also had the chance to go to "proselytismo" I was so nervouse! our instructor tood us to "o metro" the subsay.. to hand out book of mormons !each of us got 3 , and my companion got4! but it was such a good experience... yea some people told us "no" or that they didnt have time.... ha the elders even got yelled at by a drunk guy... but the 7 people that my companion and i gave a book to... seemed kindof down... but when they got the book they had a smile on their face! there was this little old lady from mozabique... and there portuguese is pretty different... but my bad portuguese and here different portuguese.. we honestly coudnnt understand eachother... but when we told her that the book was a book about Jesus Cristo.. and that it was a present for her ... he eyes lit up... and it was such a special moment... she was excited to read it! it was beautiful!!!!! any ways... I have to go!!! I love you all!!!! say hi to daddy (and give him a big hug and kiss for me!!!! )haha and elsie and liz!!!!!!! I love them and miss them so much !!!!!!! love you too mommy!!! say hi to the branch for me!!!! Hurrah for Israel!!! love --- Sister Orozco

Sister Orozco's first email

Oi!!! mommy!!!! Im here!!! So I have time to email you and tell you that I am here!!! ha Sao Paulo is crazy! I've learned two things so far, Brazilians are crazy drivers., and they love art!.... there's graffiti everywhere!!!! oh and did I mention they are crazy drivers. haha So I was able to find a lot more missionaries at the airport in atlanta. First I found missionaries that were going to peru and colombia, across my terminal, then whenever they left, I found a ton of missionaries going to Brazil! they were people who had just received their visas the day before.. but they were at the provo mtc for a while. there were about 12 of us that flew together to Brazil. Also something that I learned about myself.. I don't like long flights... it really sucked. the airplane was so cold... and we were seriously in there for 10 hours!!!! it was so long!!!! I felt like we were never gonna get there... and we didn't sleep at all. so that was pretty terrible too!! oh well. the airplane gave us complimentary pillows and blankets. which was such a blessing. because it was soooo cold! Then when we arrived at the MTC it was super awkward, so we got here and we were pulling our luggage in, and all the other people that have already been here a while just starred at us. then we got our name tags and some papers and our companions and that was pretty cool! once I got my name tag, i kind of finally felt like an official missionary. haha and then they took us to where we were gonna have breakfast, so we went im... and we started grabbing whatever was there... we didn't really know what the food was. but then this lady comes out and shes kinda like telling us something... and we all kinda just stood there not knowing what she was saying. it was all kinda weird! then all the missionaries that have already been here a while, made fun of us... but its okay, we were new and we didn't know what was going on! and we did look pretty funny not knowing what was going on! so right now I got assigned 2 companions, were in a trio. one of the girls is sister Eisles, and the other one is sister lopez, sister lopez is going to my same mission. and the other one is going to manaus. theres one more girl that i met that is also going to recife but shes just gonna stay here for 2 weeks. cause shes already been on her mission for 3 months and she just got her visa! cool thing about that sister (sister juarez) she was serving in albuquerque while she waited! haha So whats the weather like here... definately not what I expected. its chilly, then its raining, then its super hot/ humid, then it starts to rain,... its weird. haha anyways... I think the next time I have P-day is either wednesday or Friday. I dont know. But I love you! tell everyone I say Hi!!! tell dad and elsie and liz that I love them too!!
love,
Hermana Orozco :)
